Find Cochran County Released Inmates

Cochran County released inmates can leave the live jail roster even when a booking record remains available. A search for Cochran County released inmates therefore starts with the past-booking record, then follows the event into Sheriff, court, state, or federal files. The correct path depends on whether the person returned to the community, moved to another custodian, or entered supervision. Cochran County released inmates may also have a court disposition that explains the legal basis for release without proving when the jail completed it. Matching both records gives a sounder answer than a name-only roster check.

Cochran County Release Meaning

A Cochran County Jail record marked RELEASED means the Sheriff no longer treats that booking as current county custody. It does not identify the next destination. The person may have posted bond, received a court order, completed time, had a case dismissed, or finished a county sentence. Another person may have moved to TDCJ, a different jail, federal custody, or immigration custody. Each outcome ends the local booking but only some are a return to the community.

The live Current Inmates view serves a narrow purpose. It confirms a current county booking at the time shown. Once someone leaves that view, use the official-linked arrest-date interface to locate the older booking and inspect its status. Absence alone proves nothing. A corrected record, a search mismatch, or a transfer can produce the same empty result. The Sheriff’s booking and release log is the source for the event, while a court file explains the order or judgment behind it.

Key distinction: leaving the Cochran County roster is not the same as being free from every agency’s custody.

Cochran County Release Types

The meaning of a release label depends on the underlying authority. Bond can end jail custody while the case remains open. Time served or sentence completion reflects credit or completion under a court judgment. A transfer ends Cochran County custody but starts or continues custody elsewhere. Parole is release from state confinement under rules and supervision, while probation, formally called community supervision in Texas, is imposed by a court and handled locally.

Does Bond Mean Cochran Release?

Cochran’s Interop booking records show total bond and charge-level bond figures. Those amounts describe financial conditions tied to charges. They do not show that bond was posted, accepted, or processed. Status must change, and the physical release should still be checked with the Sheriff. A signed bond or release order explains legal authority but another warrant, identity check, or transfer can delay or prevent departure.

The county’s adopted budget includes a Personal Bond Office Fund associated historically with Code of Criminal Procedure article 17.42. That accounting line does not establish a staffed office, an eligibility rule, a charge, or a release schedule. For a named case, pair the court’s bond document with the jail event. Never infer a completed Cochran County release from the dollar figure alone.

Cochran County Release Record Fields

A complete release entry has more value than the public site’s broad status. The public arrest-date result can show identity, arrest date and agency, days in jail, bonds, charges, court, and an image area. Yet it omits the exact release time, reason, destination, and authorizing order. Ask for those event fields by name so the response addresses the actual end of custody.

FieldWhat it shows
Identity and booking numberConnects the event to the correct jail booking
Booking date and timeMarks the start of that county custody episode
Release date and timeMarks when the Sheriff ended custody
Release disposition or typeMay identify bond, order, time served, transfer, or another code
Releasing authorityIdentifies the office or order supporting the event
Destination or receiving agencyHelps distinguish community release from transfer
Charge and court linkConnects the custody record to the legal case

Why did the person disappear from Current Inmates? The live tab is a custody snapshot, not a historical release archive. Search the arrest date and request the Sheriff event before deciding what the change means.

Request Cochran County Release Records

The Cochran County Sheriff provides a specific open-records email and operates the jail from Room B-7 in the courthouse. A narrow request reduces false matches and avoids asking staff to create an explanation. Request existing fields from the booking and release log. Include only enough identity data to distinguish the booking.

  1. Collect the full name, booking or cause number if known, arrest date, and arresting agency.
  2. Email Sheriff@co.cochran.tx.us under the Texas Public Information Act.
  3. Ask for the booking/release entry, exact date and time, disposition, releasing authority, and public transfer destination.
  4. Request electronic copies and an itemized estimate before charges exceed an amount you choose.
  5. Match the response to the court judgment, dismissal, bond, or time-served order.

The Sheriff publishes no flat fee for a release record or photo. Texas cost rules can account for pages, media, labor, programming, and request volume. Ask for an estimate. Government Code Chapter 552 requires prompt production, but ten business days is not a universal delivery deadline. If production will take longer, the agency must provide the required written notice and a reasonable availability date.

Note: Exceptions may protect active-investigation material, juvenile information, private identifiers, sealed matters, and expunged records while leaving other public fields available.

Cochran Release Records and Expunction

Release does not erase an arrest. Texas reorganized its expunction rules into Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. Eligibility depends on the case result, charge history, waiting rules, and statutory exclusions. An order of nondisclosure limits public disclosure for an eligible matter but differs from expunction. The current court order controls, not an old copy elsewhere.

Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas includes Cochran County and offers navigation for adult-record remedies. That listing does not mean a particular record qualifies. Filing costs are also not fixed by the fact of release. The clerk should quote the current amount, and the law provides specified fee components and waivers.

Find Cochran County Released Inmates

Start with the system that last held the person. Cochran’s best local web route for a prior booking is the arrest-date search, not the Current Inmates tab. A `RELEASED` result is stronger than a missing name, but it still needs the Sheriff event for time, type, and destination. Court and supervision records answer different questions.

  1. Search the Cochran arrest-date records with a realistic arrest range and optional name.
  2. Record the status, arrest agency, charge, court, and identifiers shown for the correct person.
  3. Request the Sheriff release event to learn when and how county custody ended.
  4. Check TDCJ if the case involved a prison commitment, parole, or past state custody.
  5. Ask the clerk for the disposition, then use VINELink, IVSS, BOP, or ICE only when that agency fits.

The official Cochran arrest-date source shows how name and date controls lead to records that can retain released status.

The result remains keyed to arrest date. It is not a release-date feed, and the vendor does not publish its archive horizon or refresh schedule.

Cochran Releases to TDCJ Custody

The Sheriff reported 274 aggregate paper-ready inmate-days before state transfer in the county’s 2025 tax-rate worksheet. That is not 274 people, 274 releases, or an average stay. It measures combined days that people ready for state transfer remained in the county jail. The figure makes a county-to-TDCJ handoff a locally important explanation when a name leaves the jail view.

If the court shows a TDCJ sentence and the county record changes to `RELEASED`, search the state system with the SID or TDCJ number when possible. Allow for the official lag. The county status marks the end of one custodian's booking, not the end of confinement. A TDCJ result or state history request can establish the next part of the custody chain.

Reconcile Cochran Release Records

The local `RELEASED` label supplies no reason or destination. Parole in absentia adds another quirk: TDCJ notes that a person released on parole directly from county jail may lack a calculated TDCJ release date. A missing state date does not cancel the Sheriff event, and the county label does not prove a community release.

Use three records when that fact pattern appears. The court disposition identifies the sentence or parole authority. The Sheriff log records the end of Cochran County custody. TDCJ or Parole Division status establishes the state side. Agreement among those sources is more reliable than treating any one screen as a complete custody history.

Cochran Release Court Records

The County and District Clerk pages list the same contact, Lisa Smith, in Room 102 at 100 N. Main St., Morton. Ask for a docket sheet and the final judgment, dismissal, bond or time-served order, or an order changing community supervision. A court record explains the legal result. It does not prove the minute the jail finished release processing.

Felony matters generally belong in district court, misdemeanors in county court, and some fine-only matters in Justice or municipal court. Confirm jurisdiction from the booking’s Court field. The county’s publicsearch.us site is for recorded property documents. Its “24 hours” and “3 days” choices are not criminal or jail-release windows.

The Cochran District Clerk page gives local contacts and court links.

Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Supply a full name, cause number when known, and a tight date range.

Cochran Release Offices Under One Roof

Several distinct offices share the courthouse at 100 N. Main in Morton. The Sheriff and jail use Room B-7. The County and District Clerk use Room 102. The Justice of the Peace is in Room B-4, Adult Probation is in Room 204, and the 286th District Court lists a Morton Suite 205 contact. Their shared address does not merge their records.

This split is useful. Request the physical release event from the Sheriff, the judgment or dismissal from the clerk, magistrate-stage bond records from the Justice of the Peace when relevant, and probation status from CSCD. Morton became the county seat when Cochran County was organized in 1924. That history helps explain the courthouse-centered layout, but it says nothing about present jail capacity or release timing.

Cochran Release Supervision Routes

A person outside jail may still be supervised. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles makes parole decisions. TDCJ’s Parole Division supervises parole and mandatory supervision, with Cochran County assigned to the Lubbock District Parole Office. Probation is court-ordered community supervision handled by Cochran County Adult Probation/CSCD. No statewide public person-level probation search was found.

Verify the system before contacting an office. TDCJ offender details and IVSS can support a parole or mandatory-supervision check. A county court order and Room 204 CSCD are the local probation route. The full distinction and contacts appear on the Cochran County Probation & Parole page.

Cochran State Release Reentry Help

TDCJ’s Rehabilitation and Reentry Division provides a statewide resource guide and navigation for people leaving Texas state custody. Its published contacts are 877-887-6151, 512-671-2134, and RRD@tdcj.texas.gov. This is a state-release resource, not an automatic service for a person who posts bond at Cochran County Jail.

The custody source controls eligibility and the right point of contact. A former TDCJ inmate can ask the state division about its programs. A person leaving only the county jail should not assume that the same aid applies. Local release facts still come from the Sheriff, the court, and any supervision office assigned to the case.

Cochran Release IDs and Corrections

TDCJ’s three-phase reentry program can help eligible state releases obtain a replacement Social Security card, certified birth certificate, and Texas ID at release. Those services should not be generalized to county detainees. A Cochran County bond-out has a different custody path, and no local release-property or identification protocol was published.

For an error in a local release entry, identify the Sheriff record and support the correction request with the relevant agency or court documents. Send a court-record concern to the clerk. Keeping those channels separate matters because the Sheriff controls the jail event, while the clerk controls the filed judgment, dismissal, bond, or supervision order.

Cochran Release Alerts and Federal Checks

The official Sheriff page directs users to Texas VINELink for county custody status and alerts. Confirm that the live agency selector names Cochran before relying on a registration, since statewide material says VINE covers many counties. TDCJ custody, parole, mandatory-supervision, discharge, and warrant notices belong in IVSS. An alert may concern release, transfer, or another change, so verify the event with the originating agency.

Federal custody requires separate tools. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 onward and may show a release date or “Not in BOP Custody.” That status can still mean another custodian or supervised release.

BOP federal locator used for Cochran County release verification

ICE’s ODLS tests current immigration detention and is not a release history. No match does not prove release. The U.S. Marshals Service has no general public historical release locator. No federal prison or ICE detention site was documented within Cochran County.

Cochran Released or In Custody

Choose a source based on the custody question. One system’s negative result cannot clear every other system. Use at least two records when the answer matters: a custody event plus a court or supervision document. Match dates and identifiers, not just names.

Note: A registry applies only to its narrow legal purpose and cannot establish a recent Cochran County jail release or general custody history.

Cochran County Release Facility

Cochran County Jail is the only locally documented detention facility found in the official-source sweep. The Sheriff operates it from the courthouse. The official page links the Interop current, 24-hour-booking, and arrest-date views, making that vendor interface an authorized county access route.

No verified source gives a daily release time, exit door, family waiting area, property-return process, weekend practice, transport option, or gate payment. Call the Sheriff before travel. A community release may follow bond, dismissal, time served, an order, or sentence completion. A transfer can instead send the person to TDCJ, another county, or federal or immigration custody.
